Tree planting is underway along the North Split!

Information gained from neighborhood workshops and surveys during the Context Sensitive Solutions process of the project indicated that the public preferred a more naturalistic approach to landscape design with many referring to the term “urban forest.”

To achieve this, crews began planting redbud and serviceberry trees along the southeast section of the I-70 leg of the North Split this month.

In the spring, an additional 75,000 to 100,000 plants will be added to this same area to enhance the aesthetic and ideal “urban forest” feel of the project. Upon completion, there will be 25 plant species installed across the North Split. Aesthetic improvements will continue through fall 2023.

The trees pictured came from Blue Grass Farms in Anderson. And Roudebush Grading, from Noblesville, is performing the planting installations.
