Dust and Debris and Erosion, Oh My!
As we head into summer, crews are gearing up for dry weather.
It’s no secret that construction work can stir up dirt, dust, and debris. To help minimize environmental impacts, North Split crews follow specific mitigation strategies designed to help control dust and sediment.
The plan calls for erosion control methods like the use of natural and artificial windbreaks, temporary seed and mulch, all-natural coconut mats, and bright orange Dandy Bags to help prevent sediment from making its way into creeks and rivers.
To reduce airborne dirt and dust, water trucks are deployed each day to keep haul routes damp, and gravel is spread at entry/exit points to contain fine soil particles that may fall from truck tires as they roll across the gravel onto a city street or drive.
