Locally Sourced Concrete Pipe Provides Future-Focused Stormwater Solution for North Split Project
Structural durability is an important component of any INDOT project. When it comes to selecting materials and manufacturers, using trusted local partners to provide quality materials is preferred. For the North Split, INDOT selected local concrete producer, County Materials Corporation, to manufacture and deliver approximately 750 precast concrete pipe and box culverts for the project. That measures out to more than 25,000 lineal feet of pipe.
Designed to resist floatation during major rain events and provide long-lasting reliability in challenging environments, concrete pipe requires little maintenance and has an extended service life that maximizes infrastructure funding investments. In fact, North Split engineers chose reinforced concrete pipe largely because of its ability to provide 100 years of flood-resilient infrastructure for downtown Indianapolis.
